Something kind of remarkable happened over this past weekend: 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes,' starring James Franco, grossed a very impressive $54 million at the box-office. It's not surprising in terms of the film's quality - it's very good! - but when's the last time a summer studio film succeeded when the studio made such a concerted effort to distance itself from the film's star -- and vice versa?
