Why (Some) French Movie Posters Are Better Than Ours




France may be the homeland of Truffaut and Godard, but it's also the place whereJerry Lewis is universally regarded as a cinematic immortal. So I wasn't entirely surprised to see an ad for the dismally reviewed Kevin James vehicle 'Zookeeper' in Paris during my visit there last week. But knowing how poorly comedies do in comparison to action movies in overseas markets, I was a bit taken aback by the sheer volume of comedies that had been repackaged for French audiences. Poster after poster for 'Horrible Bosses' (Comment Tuer Son Boss), 'Bridesmaids' (Mes Meilleures Amies), and 'Friends With Benefits' (Sexe Entre Amis), but none for 'Transformers 3'? Comme c'est étrange!

Well, one thing led to another and I ended up with enough iPhone snaps of various posters to put together a gallery. You'll find the images, and my snap judgments about them, after the jump.
